Graphing Cisco Systems (NBAR) Network-based application recognition with MRTG

Description: Network Based Application Recognition is an intelligent classification engine that recognizes applications that are static (which use fixed TCP or UDP port numbers), and stateful (which dynamically assign TCP or UDP port numbers).

The NBAR Protocol Discovery Management Information Base (MIB) expands the capabilities of NBAR Protocol Discovery by providing the following new Protocol Discovery functionalities through SNMP:
    
      
Public NTP ( Network Time Protocol ) Server

Description: This server is part of many offering public time server services. This project was started by Adrian von Bidder http://www.pool.ntp.org to address the resource consumption on the big timeservers. Adrian von Bidder thoughts were to use DNS round robin to spread the load over many network time servers. This project coincides with David Mills the author of NTP (http://www.ntp.org).

Description: I won't burden you with the details of why I chose the 340T. It seemed like a pretty kickass machine for the price, compared to the others in its class. I was a bit worried about the lack of direct information on running gnu/linux on it, but there seemed enough anecdotal evidence that similar hardware worked to take the chance.
